My beliefs about Technology and Learning

Technology is a huge part of everyone's life. It's used every day at home, work, and even school. People can use it for just about everything; communication, social networking, researching, and so on. On the subject of using technology in school, I think it's a pretty good idea. It's a great way for kids to learn. There are a ton of interactive online games. These things are capable of aiding a child's education and its important that they receive nothing but the best. In the same respect, I can see why some people don't like using technology in a school setting. While, if used correctly, it do wonders for the education, so kids abuse the privilege. It's a shame that this happens, but unfortunately too much of anything good can be potentially bad. This is why I think that if you're going to use technology in a classroom, or better yet if the kids do hands on activities using technology, put up so blocks and only allow the things you want them to do. This should hopefully cut down issues with abusing technology privileges.

  2. Depending on the game, yes. I think for young kids it's both a learning experience and a lot of fun.

  3. good thoughts in this, but think about keeping them busy enough that they don't have TIME to be doing anything but what you're asking. How would you use technology specifically in a lesson to be the most beneficial?

  4. Well, just as an example, let's say we're learning about the different types of animals (mammals, amphibians, etc). Using a site that hows these things is good, but because all they would be doing is staring at the page, they would be less likely to pay attention. But if the website was interactive (like they would have to label the type that each animal is or maybe they just click and drop to seperate them). So, I would say that I see what you mean, but if thought ahead, you could really make the most of your time with little distraction.

  5. I think this is one of the better reads with good ideas and some personal thought in it. I think some of your goals might be dependent on what time frame in your class will be. 45 Mins or block etc etc.

  6. I love the way you think! Although, I would say that interactive games should not be a regular thing in the classroom. That doesn't mean I don't think that it wouldn't great during a free activity time!
